Replacing the screen on an iPhone 15 is a complex task that requires precision and the right tools. Here’s a general guide to give you an idea of the process:
Tools and Materials Needed:
- Replacement screen (compatible with iPhone 15), we have two types of iPhone 15 screens, 1. Incell screen for iPhone 15 and Soft OLED screen for iPhone 15. (Soft OLED much more closer to original iPhone 15 Screen.
- Pentalobe screwdriver (for iPhone screws)
- Phillips screwdriver
- Suction cup tool
- Plastic pry tools or spudgers
- Tweezers
- Heat gun or hairdryer (optional, for softening adhesive)
- New adhesive strips (if needed)
- Anti-static wrist strap (optional, but recommended)
Steps to Replace the Screen:
-
Power Off the iPhone:
- Ensure your iPhone is turned off completely to prevent any electrical damage or short circuits.
-
Remove the Pentalobe Screws:
- Use the pentalobe screwdriver to remove the two screws located next to the Lightning port at the bottom of the phone.
-
Heat the Edges (Optional):
- Gently heat the edges of the iPhone screen with a heat gun or hairdryer to soften the adhesive, making it easier to separate the screen. Be careful not to overheat and damage internal components.
-
Open the iPhone:
- Use a suction cup tool to gently lift the screen away from the frame. Insert a plastic pry tool or spudger into the gap between the screen and the frame to carefully separate the two. Be cautious of the Face ID and front camera connectors, which are delicate.
-
Disconnect the Battery:
- Once the screen is slightly lifted, locate and remove the screws securing the metal bracket covering the battery and screen connectors. Use the Phillips screwdriver for this. Remove the bracket and disconnect the battery first for safety.
-
Disconnect the Screen:
- Next, disconnect the screen connectors. There are usually a few ribbon cables that need to be carefully unplugged. Use tweezers or a plastic pry tool to disconnect these.
-
Remove the Old Screen:
- With all connectors detached, carefully remove the old screen from the frame.
-
Prepare the New Screen:
- If your new screen doesn’t come with pre-applied adhesive, apply new adhesive strips to the frame. Ensure the adhesive is correctly positioned for a secure fit.
-
Install the New Screen:
- Align the new screen with the frame and carefully reconnect the screen connectors. Reattach the metal bracket over the connectors and secure it with screws.
-
Reconnect the Battery:
- Plug the battery connector back into place, and then secure the battery with the metal bracket and screws.
-
Test the New Screen:
- Before sealing everything back up, power on the iPhone to test the new screen and ensure it’s functioning correctly (touch sensitivity, display quality, etc.).
-
Reassemble the iPhone:
- Once you’ve confirmed everything works, carefully place the screen back into the frame. Press it into place to ensure the adhesive bonds. Reinsert and tighten the two pentalobe screws at the bottom of the phone.
-
Final Check:
- Ensure the screen is properly aligned and there are no gaps or loose parts. Test all functions to ensure the replacement was successful.
